When we launched our first-generation smart shading product, AXIS Gear, the only power option that we included in the packaging for the first 2 years was the Solar Bar.
The Solar Bar was a solar panel with AA batteries (for backup) that could be attached to the AXIS Gear to keep the battery inside of the Gear powered.
Although a lot of technical prowess went into it, the Solar Bar ultimately had 2 shortcomings:
- All in all, it was quite a confusing concept
- Although it didn’t plug into a wall, it still had a wire
While many of our users enjoyed the solar bar, there were some users who were very vocal letting us know their disappointment with these 2 things and we are extremely grateful for that. The feedback that they gave us from their experience with our first-generation product has been immensely helpful when developing our 2nd generation product.
This feedback is what led us to developing the RYSE BatteryPack and in this blog post, I’m going to dive deeper into the BatteryPack as well as how we ended up developing a wire-free option for the RYSE SmartShade.
The Benefits Of Going Wire-Free
Over the years of selling our first-generation smart shading device, we’ve been given a lot of reasons why it’d be great to develop a wire-free solution from both our customers and partners.
Everyone from interior designers to distributors to product dealers, have told us that they would love to be able to offer a cleaner and more professional look that you can only get without wires.
Our customers have echoed that sentiment, adding that it would also make installation easier and prevent any accidents or dangerous situations involving wires and pets or small children.
Another benefit of going wire-free is a more obvious one: sometimes a wall outlet is not nearby. Whether the windows are high and out of reach or if the closest outlet is full or just too far.
The BatteryPack gives a wide variety of benefits that span aesthetic and functional needs. Our customers and partners asked, and we listened.
How The BatteryPack Works With RYSE SmartShade
The way that the BatteryPack works is simple.
Users can simply attach the BatteryPack to the bottom of their SmartShade to install it, as shown below.
Once installed, a fully charged BatteryPack can power a SmartShade for 6 to 9 months depending on usage.
When it is time to recharge the BatteryPack it can be removed with a simple press of the quick-release tab.
Easy & Quick Recharging
But what about when the BatteryPack runs out of juice?
Thankfully, it only takes the BatteryPack 3 to 4 hours to get to full charge and it can be charged using a standard micro-USB cable.
There is also an LED indicator light right on the BatteryPack that will turn yellow when your battery could use a top up. In addition to this, users can get a notification in the RYSE app when the battery is starting to run low.
This makes recharging quick and easy so that the RYSE BatteryPack is always good to go.
With that said, the BatteryPack is only one of the accessories we have developed and RYSE SmartShade is only the first type of window covering we are developing along our journey.
